From West Point to consumer bankruptcy

Mr. Hedtke graduated from West Point in 1992 and served five years in the U.S. Army as an Engineer Officer, completing Airborne and Ranger training. After the Army he earned his law degree at the University of La Verne College of Law and worked as an associate at several Southern California firms before opening his own practice.

Since his admission to the California bar in 2010 he has filed about 3,000 bankruptcy cases for individuals and families. Most of those clients came in with the same problems: a paycheck being garnished, a house in foreclosure, a car about to be repossessed, or collectors calling every day. The work is about stopping that pressure quickly and choosing the chapter that fits the family’s income and property.

How a first meeting works

The first consultation is free. Bring what you have: recent pay stubs, your most recent tax returns, a list of what you owe, and any collection letters, lawsuit papers or foreclosure notices. We use them to check whether you qualify for Chapter 7, whether Chapter 13 would protect a house or car better, or whether another option makes more sense than bankruptcy.

If you decide to file, our office prepares your petition and prepares you for the meeting of creditors with the bankruptcy trustee.
